Porto comes only from Portugal’s Douro Valley — the first demarcated and regulated wine region in the world. ‘Port’ or ‘Port-style’ wine can be made anywhere; Porto cannot. It is a fortified wine: fermentation is stopped partway by adding aguardente, a distilled neutral grape spirit, which raises the alcohol and preserves the grapes’ natural sweetness. We make house-style blended Ruby and Tawny Portos alongside expressive single-year Rosé, LBV, Vintage and Colheita Portos. All Portos are tasted and approved by the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto (IVDP), whose stamp of approval certifies the quality and tradition by which Porto has been made for centuries.
