The dry expression of our grapes

Quinta do Tedo is, at heart, a Porto house — but even class “A” vineyards, with the highest Porto allowance (benefício), are limited in how much Porto they may produce each year. So in the early 2000s we began vinifying a small amount of Douro DOC wine, exploring the dry, unfortified expression of our high-quality estate grapes.

We produce our Douro DOC every year, the Reserva only in great years, the Grande Reserva Savedra only in superb years — and since 2020, our first-ever dry Rosé.

These Red and Rosé wines are built on estate-grown Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão and Tinta Roriz, harvested before the Porto grapes to capture fresher fruit and acidity. A great Porto year is not necessarily a great table wine year, and vice versa — some years shine in our DOC wines, some in our Portos, and some in both.
