Grapes: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz. Terroir: schist soils, arid Mediterranean climate, grade-A vineyards. Winemaking: foot-trodden 2 days in traditional lagares, fermented 2 days under temperature control — with native yeasts alone, since Porto grapes ripen long enough on the vine to carry all the sugar and wild yeast they need — then fortified with grape brandy at half sugar. Aged 3–4 years in neutral French oak 7,000-litre foudres before blending. 6,000 bottles a year. Alcohol: 19.5%.
