Description
a blend of high-quality harvests aged an average of 10 years. Grapes: field-blended Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca from our older vines. Terroir: schist soils, arid Mediterranean climate, grade-A vineyards. Winemaking: foot-trodden 3–4 hours a day for 2 days in traditional lagares, fermented 2 days with native yeasts, fortified with grape brandy at half sugar; aged 6–15 years in neutral French oak 500-litre puncheons and 228-litre barrels before blending to an average of 10 years. 2,400 bottles a year. Alcohol: 20%.
