Year: 2003, a widely declared classic Vintage across the Douro: a long, hot summer with an unprecedented heatwave — and rain at just the right time. Grapes: 18+ varieties, led by Touriga Nacional, from 40+-year-old field-blended vines. Terroir: schist soils, arid Mediterranean climate, grade-A vineyards. Winemaking: foot-trodden 3 days in lagares, fermented 3 days under temperature control, aged in 7,000-litre foudres, bottled unfiltered within 2 years. 7,000 bottles. Alcohol: 20%.
