Description
Year: 2021. A barrel-selected wine from the Savedra parcel, made only in superb years — where our Douro DOC is made every year and the Reserva only in great ones. Grapes: a field blend of 24+ varietals from our oldest (60+-year) Savedra vines, at slightly higher elevation than our Porto vineyards. Terroir: schist soils, arid Mediterranean climate, grade-A vineyards. Winemaking: de-stemmed, crushed and macerated 3 days in stainless steel; fermented 7 days under temperature control; 5 more days on the skins. Malolactic in stainless (40%) and French oak (60%), then 24 months in new 228-litre French oak barrels. 2,000 bottles. Alcohol: 14%.
