We are transforming our historic horse stable into a second tasting room, just across the road from the 18th-century Quinta and the original tasting room, above our 55-metre Underground Barrel Gallery, with stunning views of both the Tedo and Douro rivers.

Casa do Cavalo was the stable of the estate’s vineyard plough horse — and given the 11th-century Lenda do Tedo, the tale of the defiant knight who loved and died in this valley for princess Ardinia, it only made sense to place Don Tedo on horseback at the centre of the mural behind the bar.

The room is spacious, with an open-beam ceiling and thick granite walls — one an outcrop of layered schist formed over centuries. “Rustic-elegant” is the concept: warm Portuguese colours, azulejo painted tiles, cork, linen and custom furniture from Paços de Ferreira, Portugal’s furniture capital.

Here we will welcome you for curated tastings of our more complex Portos and Douro DOC wines, our Library Selection of treasures from three decades of production, and our Next Generation white and red wines — along with interactive Porto blending sessions, Vintage Porto opening-by-fire demonstrations, and timeless, wine-friendly bites for pairing.
