informally ‘the Poor (Wo)Man’s Vintage’, and affectionately our Ruby’s older brother: a blend of vintage-quality harvests from older vines, aged an average of 5 years. Grapes: field-blended Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Cão, Mourisco, Tinta Pomar and Rufete. Terroir: schist soils, arid Mediterranean climate, grade-A vineyards. Winemaking: foot-trodden 3 days in lagares, fermented 3 days under temperature control; aged in 500-litre puncheons and 7,000-litre foudres before blending. 7,000 bottles a year. Alcohol: 19.5%.
